Mango Congo
It’s Mango time at Casa Mango and Casa Papaya. That’s the good news and the bad.
- The mangos are ripening.
- That’s the good news and the bad.
- The Congos (Howler monkeys) love mangos and have been coming around for a few days now to sample from the huge tree next door.
- They seem to prefer the fruits just short of ripe, eating mangos for breakfast and supper.
- During the heat of the day, they hang out in our bamboo grove.
- That’s all very entertaining to watch and we love having them around, so close to the house.
- The problem is that they eat just one or two bites of the delicious juicy fruit and toss the rest.
- The left-overs land on our neighbors’ metal roof with a very loud bang.
- The first time I heard it I thought someone had been shot.
- I see that my neighbors did some severe pruning this morning. We’re all hoping for a quieter evening.
I’m going to make sorbet. This recipe looks like fun.
Beautiful photos… love the one of the monkeys in the bamboo!
Those pesky little devils! It’s like the sealions at Bonneville that just eat the bellies out of the salmon. I don’t know which would be better to have around, though
–the monkeys or the mangoes.
Great monkey shots. Better they’re throwing mangos than you know what!
