Crab & Eggs

cras lay eggs on costa rican beachEach year, with the first rains in Costa Rica, these purple and red crabs come out of the wetland and cross the road to lay their eggs in the sand of Playa Carrillo.  It looks like the beach at Normandy.  Just one night and then they’re gone.  I’ve never seen the crabs hatch but the laying of the eggs happens every year just after Easter with the first good rain of the season.

Very interesting… they also crossed the road below my house. I didn’t know the reason.

Well Miga certainly has her work (play) cut out for her! I had my arrow on your pic & “a crab” popped up in writing. Cracked me up. I was just outside checking out the candelias (fireflys) They are also out in full force after todays downpour. One of the Ticos who worked on my house said each candelia represents a departed loved one. I always remember that when I see them now. I Love that!
