Steve’s new ride
Steve’s finally got himself a motorbike. He put an engine on his bicycle. He can still pedal if he wants to but this makes the hills around here a lot more fun.
Now, he can ride with the big boys but he’s looking for new members of his own club.
Ancient petroglyphs?
Winter storms – winter is June through October in Costa Rica – have scoured Carrillo beach to expose this carving. Probably an homage to the cacique (chief).

Beach Bench
A new bench washed up in the tide on Samara Beach. Easily seats 20.
Kid’s Club
Casa Cuna brought about 20 kids from Nicoya for a day of beach fun.
The obstacle course was a good challenge for many.
Everyone got a shirt sponsored by SUR paints
and a number.
Soccer Sunday in Samara
Today FIFA came to town with a free children’s soccer camp – I’m sorry that I couldn’t find any alliteration for futbol, as most of the world knows the game.
There must have been 200 children, elementary school age, playing on our beautifully maintained central plaza.
FIFA trained local coaches yesterday so there were at least 3 for every age group.
The kids were up at dawn, pushing their parents out the door. The color-coded shirts were theirs to keep.
